Shake well to emulsify product. Dampen skin with lukewarm water and dispense a dollar-sized drop of Purifier 1:1. Massage and gently rinse off using water, and follow with Skin Need sulfate-free cleanser series for complete cleansing actions. For the removal of exceptionally heavy or water-proof makeup, dispense Purifier 1:1 onto On-the-Go Skin Purifying Pads to strengthen makeup removing effects. Rinse off using water and follow with Skin Need sulfate-free cleanser series.

Thoroughly removing makeup is a vital step to prepare the skin for cleansing, such that your cleanser can effectively reach the skin to remove impurities such as loosened dead skin cells and excessive sebum. For those who apply face makeup or tinted sunscreen on a daily basis, double cleansing is highly recommended but should be aware of selecting cleansing products that provide complementary - and not duplicating - actions. For example, Instead of choosing two cleansing products that contain surfactants/detergents that foam up to provide cleansing actions, pair foaming products with non-foaming ones such as a cleansing milk/oil/balm to offer additional modes of cleansing to provide more thorough skin purification effects.

When choosing makeup removing products, look for those that are fragrance free, non-comedogenic and hypoallergenic, as conventional products can be laden with alcohol, mineral oil, fragrances and other irritants.

After removing makeup using Skin Purifier 1:1, do I still need to use a cleanser?

Yes, as we do not recommend using the Skin Purifier 1:1 alone in your nightly cleansing routine especially if you wear makeup or tinted sunscreen during the day.

Why choose a water-oil hybrid makeup removing product but not a single all-in-one cleansing product with makeup removing and cleansing effects?

It is not recommended as these formulas tend to be on the harsh side and may lead to compromised skin barrier, dryness, dehydration and(or) sensitivity. The water-oil hybrid dual-phase formula can strike a balance between cleansing efficacy and a refreshing feel. While traditional makeup removers can lack in cleansing power or contain ingredients that may harm the skin's barrier, oil-based removers can be effective but sometimes too greasy or contain petroleum by-products. Skin Need's makeup remover utilizes low molecular weight oils combined with precious botanical hydrates to maintain the skin's lipid barrier integrity while effectively removing makeup. The water-in-oil rheology enhances its skin freshening nature, and the inclusion of squalane ensures a lightweight texture without any greasy residue.
